The main effect of the gastric balloon is to reduce the  stomach volume by occupying an extra space in it, thus the patients feels early satiety with food. If the patients continues to eat despite the fullness, they will experience cramps or vomiting. Mechanical restriction is the main effect of the balloon still some degree of appetite is reported in the literature which is believed to be  due to  the distention the  special part of the stomach called Fundus.
